Facebook borrows the idea of Hash tags from Twitter

Recently, Facebook added a new feature of Hash Tags. For people familiar with twitter, this is the same thing that Twitter has been doing all through out.

On Twitter, you can follow conversations using hash tags because there is nothing like posts and comments, no system of organised threads like Facebook. Which makes me come to my point, does Facebook even need Hash tags ??

Its actually very annoying, people will now use Hash Tags for spamming and other purposes. On Twitter, Hash Tags were necessary so as to surface conversations and such is the nature of the micro blogging medium that you can follow random topics. Facebook on the other hand is way too much closed in its approach. You have limited people who you can interact with and whose status updates you can see.

I believe, more than anything, Facebook has earned itself the title of Copycat rather than innovator. It earlier copied the blackberry messenger style double ticks in its chat so as to notify whether the recipient has tread the message or not. Not to mention all the talk surrounding the very idea behind Facebook having been taken from some one else.

Brace yourself for all the mad spamming, all thanks to uncle Zuckerburg.

Micromax Canvas 4 to be launched very soon

The ever aggressive Micromax is going to be launching the Micromax Canvas 4 very soon. After the huge success of the Micromax Canvas series, the company is not taking a step back.

The Micromax Canvas HD sold like hot cake, barring a few stock issues. The company is all set to begin pre-booking for the Micromax Canvas 4 on 28th June.

Micromax A110 Superphone

The company has kept the specs of the phone under complete wraps up till now. Though, some believe that it is going to be another 5 inch screen that we are so used to seeing now.

Micromax with its aggressive pricing has been able to woo customers away from costly Samsung and HTC phones. It is expected that Samsung will soon announce its new variant of the popular Galaxy S4, it will get good competition from the Micromax Canvas 4.

If rumours are to be believed, the Micromax Canvas 4 will be priced around the Rs 15,000 price band.

We'll get you more information as it comes out. Interesting times ahead !!

Flipkart slowly realizing that Cash on Delivery model may not work well in India

When for the first time I heard that E-commerce portals like Flipkart and the like's, were offering Cash on Delivery option, the first thing that came to my mind was that it will just not work. Most of us in India know how people just for fun, call up food joints and order food on behalf of people. The delivery guy lands up at your place and you'r like, I never ordered any food, take it back. The same thing is now happening to Flipkart. Some people in UP have had fun with them, by making false orders and then refusing to accept them when they were delivered.

Flipkart has gone to great extents to set up its excellent and famed  back-end infrastructure and superb delivery chain. Flipkart goods arrive at your place pretty fast, sometimes, even on the very day of the order. But all of this means nothing if the buyer is playing a prank and he never intends to pay up for the goods.

Introducing Cash on Delivery is a very bold step and Flipkart has carried it for quite some time now. Flipkart does not call up the customer to confirm the order(may be it does for high value, but for whatever orders I've made, they never have), if they do so, they can be assured that they are talking to the right person, and they can tell him that he is now obliged to pay up once the order is done and dusted.

May be Flipkart should stop COD for new customers. First time customers should be made to pay before delivery since they are the one's most likely to be playing the prank.

Flipkart has put on hold COD for people in Uttar Pradesh as of now, but I dont think this is a localized problem. People with the same mindset of having fun may prop up from any where in the country. Flipkart does have some serious thinking to do. Best of luck to them !!!

PS - I recently came to know about Flipkarts new 'Delivery of Cash' service. Sounds pretty awesome, the idea of a person coming to you door step so that you can swipe your card and he can pay you. The idea of an  ATM machine at your door step when you need it. Awesome !!
