Why is twitter better than Facebook to promote your Blog/Company ?

Twitter is better than Facebook to promote your blog/company.

Well I'm not really a social media expert or even anything close to that but still I'm writing this post may be because I've been following Jeff Buallas a bit too much lately.

Twitter as we know is a microblogging site whereas Facebook is a full fledged social networking site where you can chat, play games, upload pics and make albums and a host of other things that you cant imagine to do on Twitter. Imagine playing farmville or poker on twitter, funny eeh.

In spite of all these things that you cannot do on twitter, I still say that twitter is better, you must be thinking I'm nuts.

Normal routine of a normal guy who regularly uses facebook would be to log-in and then check for new notifications, check out his wall and feeds from a few friends and then sit down to chat using the sloppy chat feature that facebook provides. Facebook would tell you that this certain user spent a total 1 hour on Facebook, but still thats of no use to you as he still has not checked out your company/blog page on Facebook. This is precisely why I say twitter is better than facebook.

Now coming to Twitter, lets see the daily routine of a tweeple. He logs in and checks his time line. He reads your tweets and even clicks the links in them. People on twitter have nothing to do except for reading tweets and this is where twitter scores against Facebook.

The bonus is actually on the person who writes those tweets to make them more and more eye-catching. Writing tweets that tend to catch the viewers attention is an art in itself.

Re-tweets are one of the best way to get followers on Twitter. The more your twitter handle is mentioned in other people's tweets, more are the chances of you getting new followers.

One more thing that makes twitter better is that recently Facebook has come under heavy attack from spammers. There are new ways to spam everyday, fake apps to fake events, Facebook is fast becoming vulnerable to these spammers. Twitter has fared better in this respect as it is still more or less spam free.

So rather than spending time on managing your company/blog page on Facebook, you should concentrate on your twitter handle.

Happy Tweeting :)

Nintendo Wii prices already reduced in UK by £65

As a follow up on my last post : New HD Nintendo Wii coming : More importantly, prices of original Wii going to be slashed

Looks like Nintendo has already started reducing the prices of its original Wii console. This morning UK saw prices of Wii dropping from £165(approx Rs 12,000) to mere £99.99(approx Rs 7,200).

But wait a second, don't get too excited by seeing that Rs 7,200, for we people in India don't expect the Wii to cost so less. We don't know exactly when will prices be reduced in India, but we expect them to be dropped very soon.

New HD Nintendo Wii coming : More importantly, prices of original Wii going to be slashed

So this is good news, according to some reports, Nintendo is soon going to launch a new HD Wii.

The Nintendo Wii has always been a class apart from its competition and a great console for casual gamers. At the moment there is no HD gaming console in the market and this will definitely be a first and you can expect the rest of the makers to follow soon.

While Microsoft is busy with its Kinect success and Sony is busy with its new NGP console, Nintendo will definitely steal the show with this HD console.

It's expected that Nintendo will make an official announcement at E3 which is to be held in June in Los Angeles.

More importantly, the price of the original Wii is expected to be reduced. Currently the Nintendi Wii is available for Rs 17,890 on LetsBuy. This is great news and we are looking forward to the announcement being made at E3.

If your planning to buy a Wii, put your purchase on hold, you may just end up saving 4-5 k.

Nokia X7 : Nokia's attempt to regain lost ground

Before I start with this post, I need you to have a look at The Nokia X7.

Nokia X7

Now what's your reaction ? Looks refreshingly different, the shapes a bit unique and I find it amazing. This is one of the few phones that I think stands out from the crowd.

Now coming back to the review,  besides the good looks, The X7 also has features to back it up.

The phone has 3G, its got a 680 MHz processor and comes with 256MB RAM with a 1 GB ROM. The device comes with a 8GB MicroSD card in the box. The X7 has a 8 MP camera with dual LED flash. The good thing about the camera is that it can record HD too.

The other usual suspects like proximity sensors, accelerometer and ambient light detection are all there.
One more feature that stands apart is that the phone is made from tough glass, which basically means that the glass on the phone will not shatter even in case you drop it.

Nokia's branding this phone as a pure entertainment device. The phone comes with 2 games pre-installed, which are Galaxy on Fire HD and Asphalt 5 HD. The phone has a 3.5 mm audio jack, which is quite obvious since the phone is meant for entertainment and Nokia would as usual bundle some useless earphones with The X7.

Since I'm so obsessed with the unique designs and good looks of this phone, I'll end this short review with some other pics of the X7. Enjoy.

Google Chrome : Lighter, Faster and Great Extensions/Plugins

Google Chrome is a Web Browser developed by Google and released in Sept '08.

It was released at a time when Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer made up more than 90% of the market share. Still Google Chrome went on to become a huge success and is currently the third largest web browser in the world.

For people who have not downloaded Google Chrome yet, you can do it from here.

This is how Tech-Keeda look on Chrome.

Once you install Chrome and run it for the first time, the first thing that you will notice is that its incredibly light and amazingly fast. I for once was a die-hard Mozilla Firefox user until I checked Chrome out. Although Firefox is fast, but its not a match for Chrome.

After using Firefox for some time, the general complaint that people have is that it takes too long for Firefox to start up initially. Well, If your one of them, then try opening Chrome even when you have a lot of applications going on in the background, I bet you will be amazed to see how fast it opens.

OK enough of me going on and on about how fast Chrome is, lets now talk about the other thing about Chrome that I liked.

Google Extensions also known as Plugins is another great thing about Chrome. Google Plugins are basically extensions or small in built apps that you can install on your Chrome interface to enhance your browsing experience.

Google offers a wide array of plugins that users can download like Twitter, URL shortener's, Translate and many other useful apps. These apps are really wonderful and what is more wonderful about them is that they can also be developed by third party people.

Once you have Google Chrome running on your system, you can install plugins for Chrome here.

These plugins have practically no noticeable impact on Chrome's speed. Google has made a portion of Chromes source code available to developers so that they can also develop apps and plugins for Chrome. By making Chrome open source, Google also got the opportunity to make Chrome available to Mac users with the help of the open source community.

By my normal standards, this post has gotten a bit long. But still I thought it was important to write about Chrome as I write for complete non-geeks/non-techie people and many may not be knowing the potential of the Google Chrome browser. I try to make my posts as simple as possible to read and comprehend.

Enough of bragging about my self, do check my next post.

Google Nexus S Finally Comes to India

The Nexus S has finally arrived in India. This phone is considered to be one of the best android phones available in the market and its finally here.

The phone's manufactured by Samsung and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Unlike the ones sold outside India, Samsung has decided to give the device a Super LCD screen rather than a Super AMOLED one.  The phone has a 4 inch display.

Now coming to the pricing, which is very essential for any phone to succeed in India. At FlipKart the Google Nexus S can be purchased for Rs 27,999 and at Infibeam for Rs 26,999.

The pricing seems to be OK for a phone that comes with such a good reputation. But I do think that it will come down to a shave above Rs 20,000.

I will be doing a detailed review of The Google Nexus S in my coming posts. This blog is basically India specific so I usually review devices that are or will be launched in India.

Xperia play expected to be launched in India by 7th April 2011

Sony's new Playstation certified Xperia Play has been launched in UK today.

The Xperia Play will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a 1Ghz Scorpion chipset. It's got a slide out D-pad which acts as a controller while playing games.

Sony has currently partnered with around 20 major game developers and is trying to get more big banner developers to develop games for this new platform.

For all of us sitting in India, we can get our hands on this device after April 7 of this year.

Thank God that Sony does not make us wait for over an year to get any new product like Apple does.

You can read the previous article on the Xperia Play here.
